Christmas 2024

It's time for our annual Christmas party, and we start with a guy wrapped in tinsel garland.

Shine

They say you should always shine your light.

Blackie and friend

That's Blackie Preston at left, but I don't know who his friend is.
I'm pretty certain that AMG produced this.

Ho ho homo

Ho, ho, homo for the Holidays.

Beer buddies

Sharing a little Christmas beer cheer.

No, it's not a gag

No, this is not a made up gag.  It's a actual ad and gay as hell.

Tommy's Christmas Surprise

Here's a scene from that AMG Christmas Classic, Tommy's Christmas Surprise.

Mad Men?

This makes me think of the TV show Mad Men.

How to do it.

And that, my friends, is how you decorate a tree.

Snapshot

I really like this 1980-ish snapshot.

Okaaaaay . . .

Christmas Sailors

This is the only photo I had left over from last year's spread on AMG's "Christmas Sailors."
That's Charlie Day, aka Bob Wilson, at right.

A bit of fluff

This is what came up when I did one of those AI things for "vintage gay Christmas."
I have to say I'm quite taken with this bit of faux vintage fluff.

Merry Christmas!

Wishing all of you the very best of the Holiday Season!

Dick Garza

I can't help but wonder what Dick Garza is supposed to be doing with his hands and arms.

Don Olsen

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Gene Staggs

Gene Staggs always looks good, but Doug Juleff's lighting skill here takes him above and beyond.

Al Walch

Douglas of Detroit Day, Part 2 - Unknowns

Part two of our Doug Juleff series is unknown models,
the first of whom is this regal looking fellow.

Familiar

When I do these groups of unknowns by great photographers,
there's always a guy who looks familiar.  Today it's this one.

Stiff

Although this unknown may have been told to flex his muscles,
we get a stiff pose that looks a bit uncomfortable.

Diagonal I

Here's another Doug Juleff unknown who posed on the diagonal.
Is it just me, or is there a luminous quality to his skin tone?

Younger model

The last unknown model in todays Douglas of Detroit set
looks a bit younger than the others in this group.

James T. Gleeson

It's been a few years since I did a series on the work of James T. Gleeson (1915-2008), a talented Australian artist known for paiting male nudes in surrealistic scenes he called Psychoscapes.  We start with the first of at least five Pyschoscape works in today's set.

Playful

This one has a playful feel to it.

Psychoscape II

Most of James Gleason's Psychoscape painting have a single human figure, but this one has two.

Minotaur and Man

Minotaur and Man is from 1953 and has a very different feel from Gleeson's later work.

Psychoscape III

This Psychoscape series entry was called Pensive Man.

Surreal Landscape

Mr. Gleeson called this one Surreal Landscape.

Psychoscape IV

This Psychoscape item has unusual positioning for the subject.

Perseus

This is Perseus from 1981.

Untitled

Not even an Australian gallery researcher could find a title for this one.

One more from the 'scape

Closing out the James Gleeson series with another Psychoscape series item.
I really like the color and the tribal looking objects.
