Early 20th Century

It's early 20th Century day, and we start with another item for the hood ornament collection.
This time it's a version of Mercury by French photographer Jacques Boyer.

That look

"If looks could kill, it would have been us instead of him."
Or, as we say here in Hawaii, "Stinkeye."

Eugene Rapin

This is Eugene Rapin from Prof. Desbonnet's publication La Culture Physique.
My source, however, did not attribute it to the professor himself.

Pair

They seem concerned about something off to the left.

Inspired by

This one was inspired by The Thinker with a bit of Narcissus thrown in.

Academic Study

Larry over at The Unashamed Male sent me this photo
which is an academic study focused on muscle tension.
Thanks, Larry!

Not French

At first glance, I thought, "This one has to be French."  Well, I was wrong.
Turns out to be a Von Pluschow photo of an Italian.

J. Helin

Here we have an autographed photo of J. Helin of Helsinki.
Finland was part of the Russian Empire when this was made.

Page 639

The French Sports Federation published a review called L'Éducation Physique.  When I saw this photo of Josef Auer of Zurich listed as from page 639, I thought they had put out a huge book version and got excited.  Turns out that they continued their page numeration across issues over the year, and this was likely from near the end of the year.  Oh, well.  I will continue to research it.

Soft focus

The soft focus in this photo by an unknown was likely an artistic device
used by a group of photographers known as pictorialists.

Men in Bed Day

No idea

I have no idea what's going on here other than two fully clothed guys are kissing.

Candid or staged?

Is this one candid or staged?

Eager

I get an eager impression from this fellow.
I'm sure he had no trouble finding friends.

Satyr

Fabulous Furball

This guy gets today's Fabulous Furball award.

Left out

The two guys at center seem to have some chemistry going, but the two others look left out.
A simple rearrangement might reduce their forlorn looks.

In or out

What he wants

Somebody knows what he wants, and somebody else doesn't seem to mind at all.
Meanwhile, another guy is snoozing obliviously in the background.

Finally

And finally, I guess that opening phone call got some results.

Bryan B's Dave Martin Unknowns

Between Bryan B's notes and my own research, I have names for most of the Dave Martin models in the photos he so generously sent to me.  Today I'm posting ten that are nameless, at least for now.
We start with a fellow whose hand on the hip doesn't seem to fit the flex pose.
Thanks, as always, Bryan for your contributions to the blog!

Reservoir rock

This looks like it's from one of Dave Martin's photo shoots at a California reservoir.

Sword

Here we have a lean model with a short sword.

Drama in Nature

I call this one Drama in Nature.  Russ Warner once photographed
Jack Thomas in a very similar location and pose.

Great smile

This guy as a great smile and nice skin tone.

Conductor

I saw a symphony conductor once who gestured like this to get more emotion out of the chorus.
Of course, he didn't look anywhere near as good as this guy.

Great profile

Two items stand out in this one, that great profile and the other thing.

Very familiar

Our last Dave Martin model looks very familiar, and I should know him, but I don't.
Again, many thanks to Bryan B for generously sharing today's photos.
