Here we have a well tanned fellow perched on a large tree branch.

 

Basking

Despite apparently having been tied to a post, this guy seems to be enjoying a bask in the sun.

My dog Hamish gets the same expression when he has his sunbath.

This one looks like he's waiting at the door for somebody.

What's the image

I can't tell if this guy is trying to look domestic, sophisticated, or both.

 

Where's the Lab?

Here we have a guy and a stick. There's probably a 

Labrador Retriever nearby excitedly awaiting a throw.

 

Frisbee

These two are throwing a frisbee in a meadow.

 

Hairy

Our last random guy not only looks familiar,

but he's a hairy version of the boy next door type.

 

Recently Acquired Academic Art

I recently came across a website that had a large assortment of drawings labeled "Academic Art, Public Domain."  None were labeled, although a few had markings.  All appear to be late 19th or early 20th C.  Today we will look at ten of those, starting with this statuesque young bearded man.

 

Middle aged

This is one of several pieces in my recent acquistions labeled "H 93."

This one is a real example of practice and learning, as well as the

eternal need of the poor student to save money on paper.

 

Two bodies

The artist here drew the model's body twice.

 

Two faces

I really like this one with two different faces from1908.

 

1908

The signature on this one seems partly cut off, but the year, 1908, is clear.

 

Looking

I don't know what the model is doing with that line in his hand, 

but he is looking at it quite keenly.  His back is beautiful.

 

Those hands

The model here has a weak chin and his hands in an odd position.

 

1913?

I really like the shading on this drawing.  I can't make 

out the signature, but I think the year was 1913.

 

Unconventional

I find the pose here somewhat uncoventional, but quite effective.

 

H '93

Our last drawing has the initial H and 93, probably the year 1893.

 

Amateur Day

It's amateur day, and we start with a guy who has old fashioned furniture and wallpaper.

This one is supposed to have been taken on a San Francisco rooftoop in the 1970s,

 

Beauty Pageant Snapshot

This is supposed to be a snapshot someone took at a bodybuilding contest, aka male beauty pageant.

Theres a guy in the background who looks like he's playing a bass fiddle.
