Blake Little's Construction Nudes

Blake Little is a talented photographer who is still active and living in Palm Springs today.  

(He has published some stunning photos of contemporary bearish men, so some of you may 

want to look him up.)  After finishing art college, he moved from Seattle to Los Angeles 

where he completed one of his first themed sets of photos 1981-85.  He shot a variety of men 

nude in construction sites around LA, but didn't publish them in book form until many 

years later.  I will be presenting about a dozen of them today.   Above is the cover of the 

book featuring the model Steve, below a recent self portrait of Mr. Little.

This is Armando Framed by Plywood.  Armando appears 

at least two more times in today's series.

My source didn't name this model, but I think he may be Armando.

The cover man for the Construction Nudes book, Steve,

appears here in an excellent reflection shot.

The model here was given as simply "Brion."

 

Construction supply room

This looks like it was shot in a basement.  Mr. Little

called it "Construction Supply Room."

 

Armando

Wiltshire Boulevard in Los Angeles was the setting 

for Armando Pulling Curtain from 1981.

 

Steve Carrying Andre

This is Steve Carrying Andre.  Decades after the Construction Nudes photo shoot,

Blake Little tried to round up the models.  The only one still living for certain was Steve, 

the white (albino?) guy here.  Several, including Andre had died of AIDS.

 

No name

I don't have a name for our final model of the Blake Little set.

 

Nudist Men on the Lean Side

As I often gravitate to beefier types, I've decided to post some nudist men who are 

on the lean side.  We start with a young man partially perched on a concrete wall.

 

Competition markings

The marks on his shoulder and the medallions were part of the tracking sysetm for a nudist 

resort multi-game competition.  This could range from silly stuff like three legged races 

to real athletic contests.  Ken here seems to be getting awarded another medallion, 

and I'd love to know what that concrete trough is for.

 

Aussie I

In the first of three photos of Australians today,we see 

a man with the waves lapping at his feet on a beach.

He seems to be excited about something.

Not the greatest quality photo, but this cropped guy does fit the set.

The second Australian in today's series has two hoops and hot tuna body paint.

Anybody else remember the mediocre rock band Hot Tuna?

Considering the rough trail, this fellow may be dealing with a thorn in his foot.

I don't know just what he's doing with that rope.

Our third and final Australian's hair is still wet from the pool.  He has a nice smile.

Lyle Frisby Day

It's Lyle Frisby day, and we start with Ed Haley (left) and Hank Evans.
