Military Day, Part 1 - Odds and ends

Today's series is a military two parter, starting with some odds and ends.
This is another of Eliot Elisofon's WWII North Africa color shower shots.

Book

These soldiers are supposedly from a book published by Adolph Koch in 1964,
The photo looks a lot older that that, however.

Bath

These soldiers look more like they are getting a bath than a swim.

Ledo Road

Here's another Bernard Hoffman photo of a chubby truck washer on the Ledo Road in Burma.

St. Mary's

This is a cropped version of one of those St. Mary's College Fight School photos.

Military Day, Part 2 - That one guy

Part two of military day has some groups of men where there's that one guy who has to show off.

Seven

Tent number seven has an interesting scenc going on.  One guy's in a suit, one guy's
naked except for boots and socks, and one guy is getting out of his pants.

Demonstration?

The crowd gathered around makes me think the naked guy was demonstrating something.

1939

We can't see much, but the guy at center is partially exposed.

More than one?

There's actually more than one guy showing off here, but you have to look hard to find them.

Polaroid Day

Today we thumb through my collection of Polaroids.  At least they don't get stuck together when we do it digitally.  We start with a guy who looks straight at us.

Faded

This one with a classic pose looks faded.

William

This one came with a name attached, William.

Magazine

This may be the same guy who appears later today with his face covered.

Couch

This one  is not very imaginative.

Streaks

At first I thought those streaks were from Polaroid developer,
but thay are actually the wallpaper.

More

I think I've posted other pictures of this guy, and he looks good in all of them.

Does this . . .

Does this pose make my ass look big?

Maybe it's the angle

Maybe it's the angle that makes it look . . . well, you know.

Brick Shit House Males Through Time

Today we look at some men through time who were built like bruck shit houses.
We start with a Roman mosaic of an athlete.

Neptune I

The Italian Renaissance sculptors made their men somewhat more burly than their Green and Roman antecedents.  This 1576 work by Ammanniti is the first of two statues of Neptune in today's set.

Neptune II

This is the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna by Giambologna, 1565.

Jacques Reattu

It was 1792 when Jacques Reattu did this drawing.

E. Favier

E. Favier drew this well built mid-19th Century model.

Muybridge

I had to include my favorite Muybridge blacksmith in the brick shit house series.

1890s

This is supposed to be from the 1890s, but it looks a bit later to me.

Hercules

Arms folded

I don't know why this undated photo has the model posed with his arms folded.

Estonian #448

This is a composite I made from the interwar Estonian body typing studies.
By my best reckoning, this guy stood about  5'3".
Nice things do come in small packages.

Bronko Nagurski

This is pro football star turned wrestler Bronko Nagurski from around 1940.

Unbekannt

I found this one on a German language website labeled "unbekannt" or unknown.
I don't think the picture is necessarily German, though.

Colt?

This might be by Colt.

Cowboy Bob Lang

Our final brick shit house man is Cowboy Bob Lang by George Dureau from 1979.
