You might not recognize him, but this is Vic Seipke, and it's his day on the blog.

Dramatic
I don't know what sort of drama is behind this pose,
but it works well enough to show of the muscles.
Two Versions
A slightly different crop of the same photo was used for the American
and Japanese versions of Muscle Power magazine around 1956.
Young days
Vic looks younger in this unattributed photo. The cropping of his arms
is unfortunate, but it is still an enjoyable picture.
Vim
This Vim cover is from 1955, and Vic Seipke had a full section of photos inside.
They were by Douglas of Detroit, and one is shown below.
Domestic scene
I'm not sure what that thing is that Vic Seipke is looking at on top
of the chest of drawers, but he looks very good doing it.
Color
This looks like on of a series of color slides of Mr. Seipke done by Spectrum Studio.
I am not completely positive about that however.
Sword
I don't have a photographer attribution for this one,
but it looks like the work of Douglas of Detroit.

G-rated Bodybuilders
Bodybuilding culture goes way back, as witnessed by this 1907 magazine. Today we will look at some men and photographers from that genre, some of whom crossed over into nude photo work.
Jack Ledger
Early in his career Bruce Bellas, aka Bruce of LA, photographed
competitive bodybuilders, as we see here with Jack Ledger.
Mr. Los Angeles 1958
If we had to name the title holding competitive bodybuilder most likely to drop his drawers
in front of the camera, it might be Ray Routledge. He has appeared at least a dozen times
on this blog without a stitch on. They misspelled his name in this piece touting his victory
as Mr. Los Angeles of 1958, and the photo is by Bruce of LA.
Jack Lalanne
Here we have Jack Lalanne in 1957 pulling a Cadillac and a pair of females.
The photo is by Russ Warner.
AMG
This last one is a reminder of two things. First, Bob Mizer at AMG got his commercial start photographing competitive bodybuilders. And second, some of those guys knew exactly what some of the men in the audience were there for. Just look at that coquettish grin!

Sierra Domino Day, Part 1 - Shafter
It's been far too long since I posted a series of Sierra Domino Studio's work,
so we will have a two parter today, starting with my favorite SD model, Shafter.
Sierra Domino Day, Part 2 - Promotions and Covers
Part two of our Sierra Domino set features publication covers and promotional material.
I found a slightly better quality version of the Brothers cover, shown below.
Album A
Album A did include some nice keepsake photos, but it's main purpose was
to generate mail orders for sets of photos of the models featured.
Head Shots
1981's Excellence in Ebony set featured head shots on the cover.
I'm sure the interior was not so demure.
Rhapsody in Black
The cover art for Rhapsody in Black featured a tantalizing derriere shot,
something not seen that often in the bulk of the material extant.
