Nudists, cropped

Nudist magazine from the 1960s and 70s had a tendency to try to get females into nearly every picture.  Perhaps they thought their customer base was mainly interested in seeing naked women.  Little did they know there were a significant number of viewers mainly interested in the men.  Today I am posting twelve photos where I have cropped out the girls.  You're welcome, Big Dude.

Beach

This guy seems to be on a walk on the beach with a girl.

Eyes right

Everyone in the picture seems to be looking at the woman at right.
I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes off the two men.

Olive Dell Dude

Olive Dell Ranch appears to still be in business, but according to some reports
is no longer nude.  Sad, that.  There are a lot of vertical features on the property,
and out subject here appears to be looking up at a woman.

Chatting up

This guy is chatting up a female while partially perched on a piece of farm equipment.

Shoulder touch

Confident

I get a confident feeling from this man who is not very clingy.

Looking away

This guy is looking away, and his expression says,
"Look, I finally got a girlfriend."  If so, she was lucky.

Hi-Fi

These two were trying to woo a girl with some hi-fi records.

Big Grin

This one gets the best smile of the day award.

Knee deep

IIRC, this guy was helping a woman get down into the knee deep water.

Sublimely happy

Our last captivated male nudist is a chubby guy who looks sublimely happy.
Perhaps that female next to him is dishing up a platter of spaghetti.

Kensington Road, Catalogue 1 - from The Bill D. Collection

Today I am posting in its entirety Catalogue One from Kensington Road, the successor to Bruce of LA's trademark after his death.  The physical book was sent to me by Bill D. of California, for which I am eternally grateful.  I will post these in page order with only a few captions.  KR was set up and run by Bruce Bellas' protoge', model, and likely lover, Scotty Cunningham, aka Scotty Buono when he worked for Bob Mizer of AMG.  Rather than repeat all that I know about KR, which isn't as much as we might wish, here's a link to a previous piece I did on the subject:

http://www.vintagemusclemen.com/search?q=kensington

Kensington Road lasted only a few years, and no one seems to know what happened to Scotty thereafter.  One of our most knowledgeable contributors, Cambria, has researched this with diligence, as have I, and neither of us has come up with anything.  If any of you know, please comment.

Front Cover - Ed Fury

Pages 2-3

We shouldn't be at all surprised that Joe Dallesandro shows up prominently in the opening pages.  (He even appears again on page 4.)  After all, he was a hot commodity at the time, and I mean that in the very commercial sense of the word.  "Everybody had to pay and pay."

Pages 4-5

Pages 6-7

Pages 8-9

Pages 10-11

Pages 12-13

Pages 14-15

For those of you who view the blog on PCs, I cropped and rotated page 14 above.
Page 15 below is as it appeared.

Pages 16-17, Centerfold

Paul Strand and Drew Burton got the centerfold spot.
I rotated it for ease of viewing online.

Pages 18-19

Pages 20-21

Not that we should be surprised, but Scotty Cunningham included his own photos in the catalog.

Pages 22-23

Pages 24-25

Pages 26-27

Pages 28-29

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Pages 30-31

The back cover features a G-rated photo of Drew Burton instead of the commonly used device of a derriere shot.  Perhaps the hat was homage to Bruce Bellas' penchant for cowboys.

Again, if anyone has any knowledge of the post-Kensington life of Scotty Cunningham, aka Steve Buono, please comment.  You will be lavishly thanked and credited in future sets.

Snow Day

You all have my permission to stay home from work
or school today, because it's a snow day.

Longjohn Soldiers

These soldiers went out in the snow in their longjohns and boots.

Remember, it's cold

"Of course it looks small.  It's freakin' cold out here."

Moon

This guy is mooning us and doing a mean downhill at the same time.

Moscow 1961

When I first saw this Moscow photo, I didn't quite believe the dating of 1961.
It is correct, however, and the photographer was LIFE's Carl Mydans.

Crystal Ridge

These men were on an outing to Crystal Ridge in 1930.
I posted a different photo from this trip back in December.

Near LA?

This one looks like an LA photographer took a model up to Big Bear.

German or Finnish?

My source thought these fellows were Germans, but they look like Finns to me.

1929

I have a date for this one, 1929, and it just might be FKK.

Walking off

Our last naked man in the snow is walking off towards a mountain.
