It's Von Gloeden Day, and we start with one of his favorite models on a terrace.

Details
This young man's presence is some how enhanced by the
texture of the plants, gravel, and painted garden wall.
Repeat
I've posted this one before, but I think it's worth another look.
It is one of my top favorites by Von Gloeden.
Not always about nudity
Although full on nudity was Von Gloeden's stock in trade,
he had moments where he found beauty outside it.
Promontory
Von Gloeden used the Italian landscape to great effect when he got out into it.
The model here isn't half bad either.
Corner
A zebra skin, a large pot, and a terrace corner combine
with this model to make an interesting photo.
Often photographed
Our last photo is of a model who appears at least half a dozen times in Von Gloeden's portfolio. Although not of the best technical quality, the man's attributes come through.

Playgirl, February of 1985
The Playgirl edition of February 1985 featured Paul McCartney on the cover, but our series today is all about a photo spread on Southern men who do not appear to have been professional models.
And no, Sir Paul did not appear nude in Playgirl or anywhere else I know of.
Horace Rucker
This is Horace Rucker, and I wonder if he is related to a family of Ruckers I know.
They are some of the most amazing folks I've ever encountered.
Filler?
I don't know if Playgirl needed filler for their piece on Southern men or if they thought their readers would like some non-nude photos, but they included these grainy shots of Brad Moore (above) and Jeff Stevens. Brad seems to have attracted the attention of several females. Imagine that.

Ten Twos by Ten
Today I'm posting ten photos of pairs of men by ten different photographers. My OCD was really acting up as I put this together, so I put them in alphabetical order by photographer. We start with by far the most casual shot of the set, Ken Shreves and Jim Arvey by AMG's Bob Mizer.
Arax
Fully nude duos by Arax Studio of Paris are quite rare, so I had to use this shot of Charles Klejniak of Belgium and Hubert Thomas of England from a London bodybuilding competition in 1954.
Bruce of Los Angeles
These two unknowns were photographed on one of Bruce of LA's trips to the desert.
I hope someone can ID them because I'd really like to have more of their work.
Can-Art
Frank Borck of Toronto based Can-Art Studio took this picture of Vern Houston and John Ingle,
aka John Engelhardt. Vern seems a little shy and is trying to cover up the package.
Kris Studio
Larry Williams and John Giller posed for a photo set by Kris Studio called
The Plumber Comes. Photographer Chuck Renslow described them both
as expensive street hustlers who were a royal pain to work with.
Apparently, they didn't like each other. Competitors?
Lon of New York
These two unknown models seem to have had a bit of fun
while posing for the talented Lon of New York.
Al Urban
Here we see Fred Degroot (standing) and an unknown in an Al Urban photo.
I have to say the sweeping posing creates some actual drama.
