Hippie Day

Carl G. of Las Cruces, New Mexico requested a hippie series, and I am happy to oblige.
We start with a 1973 photo by an unknown photographer.  All my source said about this was
"Austrian Journalist Günther Nenning (middle left) with other naked people. 1973."

Right at us

I don't know what his expression signifies, but he's looking right at us.

Third clip

This is the third and final GIF clip from a short film I found.  While it is different
from the previous two I've posted, all they do is mill aound and preen, so you've
pretty much seen it all.  I won't be posting the other three.

AMG

I'm pretty sure this is by AMG.

Proletarian Youth

I've posted other photos from the 1976 Festival of Proletarian Youth which took place in northern Italy.  This one is new to the blog, and a personal favorite because of the bear at center.  The festival was a combination party and political demonstration that went on for days.

1980

All my source said about this one was "1980."

Too full house

American artist Will McBride took this photo in Munich in 1968.
It was a piece of installation art called Too Full House.

A little music

I think this guy is using a portable record player.

Another demonstration

This looks like a protest demonstration, and there's even a naked photographer in the shot.

Smile

The last hippie of the set is flashing a smile.

Valentines Smooch Fest, Part 1 - G Rated Men Kissing

It's time for our annual Valentines Day Smooch Fest, and it's a two parter starting with some G rated images and then moving on to some nude models.  Happy Valentines Day!
The card above is someone's take on Leyendecker.

Starting slow

Our smooch fest starts slow but warms up.
I find these two charming, if subdued.

1955

This photo from 1955 is by quirky Italian photographer Pierluigi.

Coy

These two seem more than a little bit coy, but hey,
you have to start somewhere, don't you?

1940s

An eBay vendor with a 99.8% positive rating says this is an authentic 1940s photo.
They're selling prints for $5.95 each and have sold 22 so far.

Soviet Politicians?

These two might be Soviet politicians.  No, really.  They did this sort of thing regularly
in the name of Socialist Fraternalism.  Still, I'm sure an occasional rise was had.

Uh-huh

Some of us suspected this all along.

Unlikely

Unlikely, but pehaps ultimately perfect.

Valentines Smooch Fest, Part 2 - Nude Models

As promised, part two features nude models.  Although I have no proof (and Google Images
search was no help), that Mid-Century Modern sofa and wall hanging make
me think of Chuck Renslow of Kris Studio's Chicago apartment.

Al Parker?

My source said the man at left is Al Parker,
but I'm not really sure.

Just like the movies

Whoever staged this one must have watched a lot of classic Hollywood movies.

Hard and Able

This is supposed to be from a 1971 production called Hard and Able.
They aren't quite there yet, but this is a start.

On their knees

They say love can bring you to your knees, but when some of us hear that expression,
the position of the two above isn't what immediately comes to mind.

And finally . . .

And finally, if Mr. Right hasn't arrived just yet, there might be a Mr. Right Now.

Military Day, Part 1 - Assorted

It's Military Day and a two-parter with part one being assorted and part two all Frenchmen.
We start with some U.S.. Army men skinnydipping in the Minnesota River in 1918.

U.S. Navy 1935

An impeccable source says these are U.S. Navy personnel on a cruiser in 1935.
The partioned showers don't seem right, unless that was a perk for officers.

Conductor

I have no idea what's going on here, but we seem to have a conductor.
Several of these men are built quite nicely.

I'm not sure, but I think these are 1970s Swedish troops
practicing chemical decontamination procedures.

Ledo Road

Here is yet another Bernard Hoffman shot of our favorite chunky truck driver giving "America" a splash in 1944.  (You're welcome, Leroy!)  Note the winch on the heavy duty front bumper which probably got a lot of use pulling other trucks out of mudholes and ditches along the way.

Military Day, Part 2 - Frenchmen

Part two of Military Day is all Frenchman, and we start with a photo that left me puzzled.  My source says that this was hand tinted, but that was a relatively expensive process usually reserved for portraits and monuments rather than ordinary French soldiers bathing in a creek in 1916.

Verdun I

The Battle of Verdun was one of the bloodiest in history with truly horrific conditions for both sides.  I recently came across some photos of men who had been rotated out of the Verdun front for rest and refitting.  Here we see some men enjoying a bath in what might be part of a mill pond.

1920?

My source says this is from around 1920, but it looks more like 1930 to me.

Verdun II

Our second photo from behind the Verdun front
shows a soldier happily lathering his crotch.

Everything but . . .

Our final French army man is kitted out with everything but his uniform,
which we can see on the ground at far left.
