Bruno

We start today's Bruno series with our star in a sliding glass door.
Although he's blocking the door, I get a welcoming vibe.

Black and white

I was very pleased to find this black and white photo from a photo shoot that I had only seen in color before.  The backdrop was a lurid series of shades of pink that would have made me slightly nauseous if Bruno and his fur had not been there to offset it.  Perhaps that was the photographers intent, but I like this version a hell of a lot better, thank you.

Colt

Of course Jim French of Colt realized what a fine model Bruno could be and hired him.

Weak color

The color is weak in this group shot, but at least it isn't orange.  It looks like a porn film promo, and I don't know who the other two guys are.  Hopefully, someone will inform us in the comments.

Mandate June, 1983

I could not find an uninterrupted version of this two page spread from the June '83 issue of Mandate.
The composites I tried to make wouldn't like up properly, no matter what I did.

Early

I have no information on this picture, but it looks like it was early in Bruno's career.

With a friend and a board

This G-rated number features Bruno, a friend, and a two by four.

Hands down

The placement of Bruno's hands give this one an unusual cant.

Orange

This one came from what I call the "orange era" of male nude photography.  Hey, don't blame me.  Playgirl started it.  In any case, I know a few viewers who will swoon over his armpits.

Last, but not least

And last, but not least, we see Bruno from an angle different from the usual.

Topsy Turvy Day

It's topsy turvy day, and at least one man in each picture will be upside down.  We start with a guy
who came straight out of the pool into a handstand.  The photographer did a fantastic job
of capturing the image while the water was still running off the subject's body.

Simple

Sometimes it's the simple things in life that are best.

Aquatic

Everyone was used to being mooned by Tommy at the town
aquatic center, but this day he took it a bit farther.

Best of Both Worlds X 2

I made this composite so we could enjoy the best of both worlds twice.

Cheating

These guys are cheating, but I like the photo anyway.

Buried

I suppose burying one's head in flowers is better than doing it in the sand.

Again?

I think these may be the same guys in the composite I made and posted earlier today.

Old one

This photo looks very old, but I have no info on it.
He's balanced on an overturned chair.

Had to know

This guy had to know exactly what everyone would be thinking about.

Burning hoops

I've heard of jumping through burning hoops of fire,
but not doing a handstand in the middle of one.

Earle Forbes Day

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Kimon Voyages

Kimon Voyages was a bodybuilder who won the Junior Mr. America title in 1942 and placed well in competitions as late as 1953.  Earle Forbes photographed him several times.

Need ID

This is one of those unknowns whose identity I have tried to find unsuccessfully
despite multiple searches.  Does anybody know who he is?

Unknown pair

I couldn't find any names for this seaside pair,
but the man at left looks familiar.

Shiny

I think Earle Forbes may have helped usher in the "slather on the oil" era.

Barton Mumaw

Earle Forbes took this photo of Barton Mumaw during his time with the Ted Shawn dance troupe.
Disclosure:  I removed yellowing from this photo to make it clearer.

Tony Sansone

While putting together today's set, I came across this Earle Forbes photo of Tony Sansone that I don't think I've posted in the past.  Even if I'm wrong about that, I doubt anyone will complain.

Cover

Although he is not listed on the cover, this photo from the March, 1936
edition of Strength and Health is said to be by Earle Forbes.

Favored pose

Mr. Forbes used the fists on the hips pose in a number of variations.
The good looking model for this one is unknown, to me anyway.

Larry Mayer

Our concluding Earle Forbes photo shows Larry Mayer with only a partial shadow.
This is one of several of Mr. Forbes' pictures where this phenomenon is visible.
It probably has something to do with the lighting equipment placement.
